BIO
Born in Mexico City, Edy (Eddie) Lan is film and media composer and arranger based in Los Angeles, CA.
He has always been drawn to a wide variety of music; from classical to pop, electronic, Jazz and many others. As a kid he would spend the rest of the day after school listening to Tchaikovsky and Dvorak (and later on Ravel and Stravinsky), Michael Jackson and Queen. His dad would always play him The Beatles, his mom mexican pop artists, Queen, Yes and Elton John while his grandma exposed him to a large selection of classical music. Edy was enamored by TV shows, movies and their music; spending a lot of his time watching re-runs of THE TWILIGHT ZONE, LOST IN SPACE and STAR TREK and a host of movies of different genres from Hitchcok to Disney and everything in between, thanks to his cinephile older brother. Later on when his grandma took him to watch West Side Story, feeling so moved, his thoughts about dedicating his life to the creation of music were solidified.

He was self taught until age 18 when he studied Composition and Musicology at the Centre of Investigation and Musical Studies (affiliated to the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and the Triny College of Music) where he was lucky to have some of the top working composers in the country as his teachers. During summer breaks he studied singing. After college and a lot of trial and error Edy’s career as a Classical composer started taking off when his music was selected to be premiered by different orchestras around
the country and went on to win several awards worldwide, including 2nd place and the prize for “Best Orchestral Piece” at the INTERNATIONAL ANTONIN DVORAK COMPOSITION COMPETITION held in Prague. He was concurrently working on his first couple of films and then received his first shot as an orchestral arranger for a record label with multi-Grammy award winner producer and engineer Rafa Sardina with whom he has gone on to work on a multitude of projects.
Edy has worked in several films, arranged a large number of songs for international artists and an important amount of music for advertisement and has continued to receive nominations and awards, earning his first Grammy Nomination in 2018.
He is characterized by his command of the orchestra, wide range of colors and instrumentation and his versatility of style. He knows that each project requires a particular and individual approach and his emphasis is always on storytelling.
